Meet Our Team

At Gumleaf Psychology and Education, we provide a supportive and nurturing environment for our patients. Our team consists of experts in the fields of psychology, teaching, and reception. Our psychologists are highly experienced and have a wealth of knowledge in treating a variety of mental health issues. Our teachers work to ensure that our patients receive the best education available. We also have a friendly reception staff who are there to make sure that your visit to our office is as smooth as possible. We take pride in our work and strive to make sure that each of our patients receives the best care and support they need.

Mrs. Harvey trained as a psychologist at Monash University's Krongold Centre for Exceptional Children and the Elwyn Morey Early Intervention Centre focusing on assessments of children, adolescents and adults and early intervention for children, as well as training at Monash University's Stress Management Clinic for adults.  After leaving Monash University Mrs. Harvey maintained a busy private practice prior to moving to Queensland in 2014.  Since establishing a private practice in Cairns Mrs. Harvey has also carried out part-time tutoring at James Cook University’s Cairns Campus.

 

Mrs. Harvey's professional experience includes assessment of developmental disorders such as Autism, ADHD, Behaviour Management, cognitive assessments of both children and adults, academic assessment of children and adolescents and the development of a social skills and self-esteem training program tailored to a child's needs. 

 

Mrs. Harvey attended the Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre at LaTroke University and is highly experienced in providing ASD Assessments from Toddler through to and including Adults. Mrs Harvey is a Registered Psychologist with AHPRA and a registered provider with Medicare.

Dr. David Harvey is a teacher and a clinical psychologist. Dr Harvey has over 30 years expertise having worked in schools, medical centres and court systems. As an Associate Professor at Monash University, he trained teachers and psychologists and undertook research in related settings. Dr. Harvey's expertise is in the area of psychological assessments and in assisting clients experiencing depression, anxieties or having to deal with other behavioural problems or stressors. He is able to provide professional reports for individuals, medical specialists, and various legal or court related purposes. Since moving to Queensland Dr Harvey has carried out part-tine tutoring at James Cook University and Central Queensland University.

Currently Dr Harvey carries out assessments and reports for Work Cover, Disability Support Pension Applications via Centralink and Veteran's Affairs. Futhermore, Dr Harvey works closely with clients needing support with Suicide Prevention, and other adults requiring counselling support for a variety of issues.

Katherine Rossi is a qualified and experienced teacher who has worked in schools and early childhood centres. She works with students and adults as a Capacity Resources Practitioner providing multi-dimensional strategies pertaining to life skills and the integration of learning skills. Katherine offer's a range of services and resources to suit each student needs. The introduction and combination of social and well-being skills, art therapy and identification of other issues, will focus on promoting and integrating learning skills used in formal and informal educational settings. Katherine has almost completed a Diploma in Counselling; mastering in Effective Parenting, Child Therapy and Mindful Therapies.
